Writing assignment:
Oliver has a mid-life crisis and decides to get married to himself. What do you think Oliver discovers with his decision? Was it a well taken decision?
Oliver's decision was a weird one if seen from the eyes of a “normal” society. In his thoughts it maybe was logical to marry himself because he couldn't find anyone who could understand him like he understood himself. If we think a little like him we can understand his problem, just thinking of meeting someone that could understand you the way you understand yourself, it's basically impossible. He just took the weird way to being happy with the guy who understood him. He should've just waited a little more time until he met a girl he was comfortable with.
After Oliver spent some time married to himself he learned that he couldn't live on with being married to himself. He had to live with the struggles of people asking him questions to mock him or highlight in the news how strange people can be. After being married to himself a while he decided to marry a woman so he could have a normal life like the others and start a normal family. He finally met a woman who understood him and married her. He had some time to learn that living with oneself isn't an easy task, although he could learn new things about himself.
I personally think the experience he had could've been one of great teachings since he could just study and reflect on himself, learning and discovering things he wouldn't have discovered any other way. Although you can still achieve learning those things without marrying yourself, you just need time to reflect and analyze yourself, plus everyone needs that special someone that they can rely on and trust, if you encounter some problems it not the same discussing them with yourself than talking and trying to find a solution together with someone else.
